Notes:
RUDIMENTS
• Rudiments are quick actions to set the case up ready to run, a sort of flick, flick, whisk broom action to achieve a quick key-out and then you're done. The heavy lifting type of process, the main action, is what you use to run the case with at length, not rudiments.
• It can happen that a rud (like an ARC Break) won't resolve because another rud (like a Missed Withhold) is out. If you must, it is OK to abandon one and fly another instead. You may need to go back and finish off the one you abandoned, though.
• The C/S might call for flying "a rud" or "3 ruds" or "6 ruds." If NO rud will fly (i.e., resolve easily and you feel good), then the standard remedy is to do a Green Form. If that isn't available, and you can't fix it, the usual PaulsRobot Troubleshooter may well work fine as long as you follow the instructions.
• A correction list like an L1C can be considered to be a rudiment-type action.
General instructions for Rudiments (not main actions):
Thoroughly understand the command and what it entails
Make sure you have chewed over and worked out:
- What the command means exactly, AND
- How it applies to you personally in your own life.
No slacking off!
You have to pay attention and work at these sessions. You can't sort of sit back and let this all run on automatic if you want to get much out of it. Some of these sessions might be free of charge but they are never free of effort.
Go with what flashes to mind
Briefly say aloud (images, feelings, sounds, whatever) what has been triggered by the command. Don't second-guess it and try to find another answer. Simply:
- describe aloud (really!) what got triggered by the command,
- make a comment on your worksheet if you wish,
- click the next link.
Don't flog a dead horse
Rudiments are quick actions. If nothing is being triggered by the command, then consider the rudiment flat at the moment.
Write comments
Write any brief comments or realizations on your worksheet. At least write down something when you have finished with the ruds.
Run till key-out and don't try and go on for some other end phenomenon
You're not trying to run your case with a rudiment. You're trying to get something out of the way so you can your case with the main action of the session, like a Grade Chart process.
Use the Robot commands
These sessions go much better if you follow the instructions and allow the Robot to give the commands and "run" the session. If you stop clicking the links and try to do it all "in your head" instead it really doesn't work so well.
