OpPro8C: Instructions

This Opening Procedure of 8-C module is provided so that the user can run this procedure without the need for another person to do it with. This would normally be done as part of a Scn Objectives program. You can Google for details if you need to.

The end point for an OpPro8C session, and the entire procedure, is shown on the page OpPro8C: Session End Point and Procedure End Point.

Do not start the session unless you have at least an hour spare. Tell yourself that you are going to run at least an hour, and do so. If you reach a genuine EP in five minutes, and "over-run" for fifty-five minutes, it is not really going to do you any damage.

General OpPro8C comments
You will need a computer screen, and a mouse, and external speakers. Headphones will likely be very inconvenient as you will be forever tripping over the cord as you walk around. Yes, you will be walking around, just like the book says. This procedure is not done sitting down at your desk. Also have a watch or clock with a very visible second hand or digits so that you can see a minute going by as it goes by, without you having to touch it to view the seconds. A normal clock with a sweep second hand works great. You can get a cheap one for $1 or $2.

What I found workable was to set the screen at the back of the desk, and put a cardboard carton a foot high in front of the screen but with a gap so the screen can still be seen. On top of the box, on the lid, put a clipboard with your session worksheets, a pen, and the mousepad and mouse. Place another box about a foot square (very roughly, it doesn't have to be a box) on the floor a couple of feet in front of the desk. The idea is that you walk away from the desk and walk around this box to get to the next spot. Do not just take half a pace over to get next to it, as then you are not walking over to it. Don't skip doing this!

OpPro8C Part A
You will need certain objects, as the commands will be similar to "Look at the pen", "Walk over to it and put your hand on it". The objects you will need in reach are a book, chair, clock, cup, keyboard, pen, radio, screen, table, tissue, wall, worksheet. If you are missing any, either get them or improvise, but the less improvisation here the better.

OpPro8C Parts B and C
Click on the first command, but don't keep looking at the screen to see what that spot on the screen changes into. You will hear the command, "Very good. Find a spot in this room." Decide on a spot and describe the spot out loud. You don't have to write it down. Click on the relevant link. Move your eyes away from the screen (look at the spot maybe) and hear,"OK. Walk over to it and put your finger on it". Walk around the box on the floor and back over to the spot. Click on the relevant link, but look away from the screen. Hear, "OK. Take your finger off it" and do so, and make a vertical stroke on the worksheet to show the end of the small cycle of action. And so on. Every fifteen cycles or so, you will be asked to rub your body hard for a bit to check if there are any unexpressed yawns, anything sitting there waiting to come off. Then on with finding spots as before.

After running the process, Part A or B or C, for a good while, you think you might have reached the EP, then by all means read about it here. If you have honestly made that EP, great, go onto the next part. If you decide to cheat and continue without having honestly made it, you will only be cheating yourself.

You should have a WRITTEN C/S (Case Supervisor instruction) for the session before you start. You can write this yourself if you don't have someone else acting as C/S (Case Supervisor). The reason for writing it is so that you know what you will be doing in the session, and don't go off on some wild tangent. It is usually a bad idea to do a session without a written C/S which you keep to in session. If the C/S (instruction) turns out to not be working in session, then end off the session and write a different C/S outside of session.

Great! Let's do the full pre-session check to make sure I'm ready for the session.

I'm familiar with what is needed. Let's go with the final check!
